PARAQUAT DICHLORIDE 24% SL

Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL is a non-selective, contact herbicide that works by inhibiting
photosynthesis. It is a post-emergence herbicide used to control a wide range of annual
grasses and broadleaf weeds. Its mode of action involves the absorption of the chemical by
the foliage of the weeds, which then disrupts the electron transport chain during
photosynthesis. This process leads to the formation of highly reactive oxygen species
(superoxides) that destroy the cell membranes, causing rapid desiccation and death of
the plant tissue. Since it is a contact herbicide, it is most effective when applied to actively
growing weeds and does not have residual soil activity
